Memories & Condolences

I have good memories of the years living neighbors by the Otte family farm The fishing on the creeks and all the good times. Walter was the same age of brother Don. I will call him and let him know. We know he is in the arms of Jesus and we will meet again.

Katherine,
We send our sympathy to you! We have fond memories of Square Dancing in Council Grove, Herington, Manhattan and Junction City. You and Walter were always so gracious and helpful, as well as Lois & Earl Peterson.
Take care of yourself.
Fondly,

~ Bob & Daisy Schalles - July 28, 2013

Stan & Katherine: While I'm saddened by the news of Walt's passing, I'm also reminded of the gift of his brave rescue of Melvin in 1977/1978? on someones ' barn roofing job, which possibly saved him from a fatal accident. It allowed our family 22 or 23 yrs more with him; for him to enjoy our spouses and GRANDCHILDREN. I think those two men enjoyed working together. My hope is for your family to find comfort ahead in fond memories of him.

I had the privilege of working with Katherine at Medicalodges while my husband was stationed at Ft. Riley and we lived in Herington. I met Walt a few years later and he was one of the most kind and gentle souls that I have ever met. I know that he will be missed by many. My love and prayers go out to the family.

Stan, its been a long time. I've have thought about you and your family many times over the years. I'm sorry for the loss of your Dad and that it took his passing to realize how long it has been since I have spoken to an old friend. Please feel free to give me a call when everything settles down and you have sometime. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Dave & Carri Eisenhauer.

I'm thankful for so many wonderful memories of Walt when he, Katherine, Dad and I would go fishing or coyote hunting. Especially the time I was riding with Walt while coyote hunting and we were the first to see a coyote and take after it. The only problem was the snow on the ground covered some BIG rocks that we ran in to and by the time we got done bouncing around and got stopped the tie rods on his truck were bent so bad that the truck traveled like a drunk was driving it! Of course, we had dumped the dogs and got the only coyote taken that day!
