John A Svoboda, 77, former resident Lincolnville, died Wednesday, January 14th, 2015, at the Valley View Senior Living Center in Junction City. He was born on Tuesday, June 22, 1937, rural Lincolnville, the son of Frank and Christina (Reznicek) Svoboda.
Christian Mass will be held at 10:30AM Thursday, January 22nd, 2015, at the St. John’s Nep. Catholic Church, Holy Family Parrish, Pilsen, with Fr. Darin May officiating; a Rosary will precede the service at 10AM in the church. Inurnment will be in the St. John’s Cemetery, Pilsen. The Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Herington Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
Mr. Svoboda worked with the Road Department for Marion County until his retirement in 2006. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Pilsen. He graduated from Lincolnville High School with the class of 1955.
Married Mary L. Weber on June 7, 1962, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Colwich; she survives of Dighton. Also survived by four (4) daughters: Annette Wilson of Seneca, Jane Benz of Bennett, CO, Cheryl Wilson of Walla Walla, WA, & Clare Curtis of Panama City, FL; a son Dr. Tom Svoboda, DVM, of Herington; a sister JoAnn Nowak of Pilsen; 16 grandchildren; and two (2) great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by a sister Geraldine Svoboda (died in infancy); four (4) brothers: Gerald Svoboda, Theodore Svoboda, Jimmy Svoboda, & Lawrence Svoboda, and his parents.
