Lillian C. Pagenkopf, 96, of Herington, died Friday evening, December 19th, 2014, at the Meadowlark Hills Retirement Village - Collins House, in Manhattan. She was born Sunday, July 14, 1918, west of Herington, the daughter Frederick Paul and Dora Augusta (Lawrenz) Albrecht.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am, Monday, December 29th, 2014, at the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Herington; burial will precede the service at the Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 4pm until 6pm at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel.
Mrs. Pagenkopf was a homemaker. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shady Brook. She grew up in Herington and Topeka, and graduated from Herington High School with the class of 1936. Lillian and Raymond farmed all of their lives near Woodbine. Lillian moved to Clay Center for several years before moving to Manhattan. She was the oldest of seven children.
Married Raymond L. Pagenkopf, on Sunday, November 13, 1938, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shady Brook; he preceded in death on Thursday, May 9, 1996. She is also preceded in death by her grandson Drake Dieker, a brother Werner “Whitie” Albrecht, a sister Selma Finke, and her parents.
She is survived by her daughter Deanna Dieker Rundle (husband-Lauren) of Clay Center; a brother Oscar Albrecht (wife-Olivene) of Topeka; and three (3) sisters: Ella Mae Shilling of Westphalia, KS, Lorna Lehner (husband-Clarence) of Chapman, & Orena Young of Centennial, CO. Also survived by three (3) grandchildren [Daren (Amy)Dieker of Manhattan, DeLaine (David) Burch of Clay Center, Douglas (Monica) Dieker of Phoenix] , three (3) step-grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 5 step-great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.
