John Wayne Varelman, 79, of Lost Springs, died Wednesday, November 26th, 2014, at Herington. He was born in Emporia on February 26, 1935, the son of John & Clara E. (Kittle) Varelman. He was raised by Rusty & Eva Miller in Lost Springs.
A Military Committal Service will be held Friday, November 28th, 2014, at the Lost Springs Cemetery, with Bishop D. Keith Shurtleff officiating. Mr. Varelman will lie in state Friday from 12:30pm until 1:30pm at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel.
Mr. Varelman served in the U.S. Navy for over 20years, and then worked with the Maintenance of Way as a track foreman on the Union Pacific Railroad. He lived in Heber, Utah, for 16 years before returning back to Lost Springs the past 20 years. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Survived by Pamela (Varelman) Godinez, Tamera (Varelman) Gordon, Jonathan Varelman, Christina (Varelman) Shakespeare; and Jeffrey Varelman, James Varelman, and Debra Sue Varelman. He is also survived by a brother Jerry Varelman; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
