OBITUARY FOR – Harriett A Harmison, 93
Harriett A. Harmison, 93, of Herington, died Thursday, September 19th, 2013, at Council Grove Assisted Living Home. She was born Friday, July 9, 1920, on the family farm south of White City, the daughter of Harry C and Edith M (Block) Blythe.
Funeral Service will be held Monday morning, September 23rd, 2013, at the United Methodist Church, White City, with Dr. Norman Simmons officiating; burial will follow at the White City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 22nd, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel.
Mrs. Harmison was a homemaker. She was a member of the White City United Methodist Church. She graduated from White City High School with the class of 1939, she then went to the University of Kansas as a music major; but her last year of college took the train to Corpus Christi, TX, to marry Harold “Toby” A Harmison (who was serving in the Navy) and on February 21, 1942, they were united in marriage, and on October 11, 2012, he preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son Don Harmison (wife-Karen) of White City, two (2) daughters: Connie Snyder (husband-Jim) of Newton, and Billie Plantz of Haysville, five (5) grandchildren, eight (8) great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, a sister Hazel Hallmark, and twin-great grandchildren.
