OBITUARY FOR – Jerry D. Dike, 79

Jerry Dale Dike, 79, of Hope, died Tuesday, August 27th, 2013, at the Herington Municipal Hospital. He was born March 15th, 1934, at Minatare, Nebraska. He was the son of John Elmer and Velma Mae (Johnson) Dike. Mr. Dike was the sixth child of fifteen children. The brothers and sisters are as listed: Bennie Leroy Dike, (wife-Ruth) of Casper, WY, Charles Vernon Dike, (wife-Peggy), Mary Elsie Dike, Anna Lora Dike of Gillette, WY, Frances Darlene Tuttle, Shirley Jean Miller of Ceresco, NE, Minnie Redean Casselman, of Gering, NE, Donald Dewaine Dike, (wife-Connie) of Mitchell, NE, Dale Dewight Dike, (wife-Hellen) Patty Anne Lockman, (husband-Richard) of Scottsbluff, NE, Judy Carol Estery of Scottsbluff, NE, David Lee Dike, (wife-Linda), Betty Sue Worth of Scottsbluff, NE, Connie Alice Minge, (husband-Dale) of Scottsbluff, NE.

Mr. Dike served in the United States Army 1956-1958 as an Engineer Equipment Mechanic at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and Desert Rock, Nevada. He married Patricia Ann in 1957. Mr. Dike retired in 1992 after working 39 years at the Armour Meat Packing Plant in Ft. Madison, IA, He was preceded in death by brothers; Bennie, Charles, Dale, David, sisters; Mary, Frances, and his parents.

He is survived by his five children; Jerri LaVonne McBride, (husband-David) of Hope, Kenneth LaVerne Dike (wife-Kyle) of Wilsey, Joyce LaRaene Dike, (companion-Ray) of Lincoln, NE, Keith LeRoy Dike, of Hope, Bruce LaMoyne Dike of Burlington, IA, Four Grandchildren; Phillip McBride of Hope, Christina White and Russell Rice of Salina, Desiree Castro, of Korea, 8 Great Grandchildren; Brandan, Brittany, Braedon, Brylon, Patrick, Jacob, Kimberly, Amanda, and Three Great Great Grandchildren, his siblings Anna, Shirley, Radean, Donald, Patty, Judy, Betty, Connie and many, many friends and family members who will always treasure how he shared his life with them, loved each of them in a very special way, and shared their laughter and their sorrow. They were truly blessed to be graced with such a wonderful father, brother, and grandfather, and most of all friend and confidant. Jerry’s earthly being will be returned to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. On August 27, 2013, his spiritual being returned home to our heavenly Father. His many memories and blessings will remain with us always. Until we meet again….
