OBITUARY FOR – Monty R. Cox, 54
Monty R. Cox, 54, of Woodbine, died Saturday, August 17th, 2013, at the Morris County Hospital, Council Grove. He was born November 18, 1958, at Abilene, the son of Melvin G. and Betty Ann (Beemer) Cox.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30am Thursday, August 22nd, 2013, at the Lyona Methodist Church, with Pastor Carol Moore-Ramey officiating; burial will follow at the Lyona Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 21st, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the Woodbine Methodist Church.
Mr. Cox was a farmer and rancher in the Woodbine/Lyona area. He worked for Kansas State University, Irrigation Systems, in Manhattan. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Woodbine. He was also a member of the Jolly Jayhawker’s 4-H Club, Kansas Livestock Assn., American Simmental Assn., and a past member of the Woodbine Lion’s Club. He graduated from Chapman High School with the class of 1977.
Married Kelline S Anderson on November 2, 1991 at the New Basel Church, Abilene; she survives of the home. He is also survived by his sons: Marcus Cox of the home, Brett Cox of Tacoma, WA; his daughter Bridgette Cox of Abilene; his parents: Melvin & Betty Cox of Abilene; and his brother Steve Cox (wife-Laura) of Abilene.
