OBITUARY for – Walter F. Otte, 86
Walter F. Otte, 86, of rural Herington, died Tuesday, July 23rd, 2013, at the Medicalodges of Herington. He was born Sunday, November 21st, 1926, on the family farm near Lincolnville, the son of Ernest Henry Christoph and Bertha Albertina (Krause) Otte.
Mr. Otte was farmer & stockman, and he was also a skilled carpenter. He was a life time member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church; where he was baptized and confirmed. He loved his family, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, & square dancing.
Married Katherine Bell Bishoff on May 16, 1947, at Lincolnville; she survives of the home. He is also survived by his son Stanley Otte (wife-Nora) of Dwight, two (2) sisters: Leona Otte and Viola Hubbard (husband-Wayne) of Herington, five (5) grandchildren (Scott, Kevin, & Patrick Thrift; and Amanda, & Stacy Otte), two (2) step-grandchildren (Jenna Powers & Jeffry Prafke), and four (4) great grandchildren (Taylor & Haley Thornhill, Toby Thrift, & Zayne Powers).
Preceded in death by his daughter Dianna Thrift-Gillett (02/02/2002); a sister Verna Peterson (02/05/2008); three (3) brothers: Elmer Otte (01/06/2011), Raymond Otte (09/09/2005), & Wilbert Otte (during WWII-05/04/1945-buried at sea); and his parents.
