Thelma Offenbacker, 86, of Chanute, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2013 at Heritage Nursing Center in Chanute.
Thelma was born in Woodson County, Kansas on August 10, 1926, the daughter of Hershel and Grace (Englebright) Eagle. She graduated from Yates Center High School in 1944.
After graduation she married Edward Offenbacker in Yates Center. He preceded her in death on February 19, 1994. She later had a companion, Bill Lauber, for 10 years. He also preceded her in death.
She worked as a secretary at Extension Agency Services and worked in Kansas City after marriage. She was a homemaker who devoted her life to taking care of her family. She was active in the First Christian Church in Chanute and the bowling league.
Thelma is survived by one daughter, Patricia Matlock and her husband Ron of Buffalo, KS; daughter-in-law, Elise Offenbacker; grandchildren, Amy Semey and fiancée Scott Pitts, Daron Matlock, Allison Hollenback and husband Aaron, Angela, Layne the 2nd ,Walt, Kim, and Polly Offenbacker; great-grandchildren Erika Semey, Mathew Matlock, Ross and Austin Pitts, Andrew, A.J., and Emily Hollenback; and great-great-grandchildren Zach, and Easton Matlock; two brothers, Marvin and Charles Eagle of Yates Center, KS; and one sister, LaVonne Hatch of Yates Center, KS.
She was preceded in death by her husband, companion, parents; and children, Layne, Kim Edward, and Debra Lynn Offenbacker
Memorials in her name may be made to the family and left with the funeral home.
