Betty G. Nelson, 83, of Chanute passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.
Betty was born in Fredonia, KS on July 15, 1929, the daughter of William and Agnes (Goetze) Graham. She graduated from Fall River High School in 1947 and later attended Johnson County Community College. Betty married Allan Nelson on April 1, 1955 in Hernando, MS.
She worked for TWA in reservations, USDA, Social Security, and retired from the Tulsa Public School System. During this time she was a member of the American Business Woman’s Assocition. She was also very active in her children’s girl scouts and boy scouts as a Den Mother.
Betty is survived by her husband, Allan Nelson of Chanute, KS; one daughter, Diane Meredith of Pryor, OK; four sons, Rodney Nelson of Goodland, KS, Gregory Nelson of Bremerton, WA, Stuart and Jean Nelson of Wichita, KS, and Kirk and Nancy Nelson of Bremerton, WA; thirteen grand children and seventeen great-grandchildren; and one brother, David Graham of Gladstone, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
Memorials in her name may be made to the First Presbyterian Woman’s Quilting Circle and may be left with the funeral home.
