Lavonna K. “Coke” Colston
1953 – 2012
Lavonna, “Coke” Colston, 58, passed away Friday, September 28, 2012, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center, Chanute, Kansas.
She was born November 9, 1953, in Chanute, Kansas, the daughter of Roy and Della (Whitmore) Brown. Coke attended Chanute High School.
She was united in marriage to Farrel E. Colston on September 25, 1971. He preceded her in death in 2007.
Coke dedicated her life to her family, and lived her life as a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Chanute American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her children; Mitzi Schoenhofer and husband Kevin of Chanute, Kansas, Amanda Raida, and husband Chad of Chanute, Nannette Petty of Chanute, James Colston and wife Kim of Chanute, Ken Colston and wife Melissa of Chanute; a sister; Natalea “Tootie” Clark of Chanute; 16 grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Donnie Howell, Roy, “Monk” Howell, and Gary Howell, all of Chanute.
In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Dean Howell.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 4, 2012, at the Church of the Nazarene, Chanute, Kansas. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church, Wednesday, October 3, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m..
The family requests memorial contributions in Coke’s name to Cherry Street Youth Center and may be left in care of the funeral home.
