Robert L. “Bob” Krause, 82, lifelong resident of Woodbine, died Saturday, August 1st, 2015, at the Herington Hospital. He was born June 5, 1933, northwest of Latimer, near Clarks Creek, the youngest of 12 children, to Fred Paul and Anna Laura (Kandt) Krause.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, August 5th, 2015, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shady Brook, with Rev. Walter Gilkey officiating; burial will follow at the Woodbine Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00pm until 8:00pm at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel.
Mr. Krause retired from the Civil Service at Fort Riley in 1995. He was very active with the Immanuel Lutheran Church, serving on numerous church boards & committees. He was a charter member of the Woodbine Lions Club, and he served on the USD 481 School Board. He enjoyed fast pitch softball. He loved to process meats, and earlier in his career owned and operated the IGA store in Woodbine. He graduated from Woodbine High School with the class of 1950.
Married Florine Ann Lueker on June 20, 1954, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, she survives of the home. Also survived by his daughter Melody Williams (husband-Joe) of Woodbine; three (3) sons: Bruce Krause (wife-Martha) & Chris Krause (wife-Pam) both of Woodbine, and Jayce Krause (wife-Jan) of Home; and a sister Laura Murray of Council Grove. Also survived by twelve (12) grandchildren (Tom & Rachel Williams, Zachary & Christina Krause, Jill Woods & Veronica Abrams, Kimberly & Jeremy Purkeypyle, Dustin Stralow, Jacob & Fallon Krause, Cortni Krause, Jennifer & Bryan Patrick, Tierra Krause, Whitney Krause, Paige Krause, and Chase Krause), and twelve (12) great-grandchildren (Cameron, Aidan, Trinity, Thomas, Samuel, and Savannah Williams; Cayden and Caryss West; Adrianna, Cheyenne, and Hunter Purkeypyle; and Marisa Abrams.
Preceded in death by seven (7) brothers (Carl, Edwin, Roy, Paul, Fred, Raymond “Pete”, & Clyde), and three sisters (Mary Ann McCutcheon, Wilhelmina “Billie” Stevens, & Elsie Rock).
