Thelma Muehlenburg, 87, of White City, died Friday, April 17th, 2015, at the Valley View Senior Life Center of Junction City. She was born February 29, 1928, rural Herington, the daughter of Walter K. and Mary (Helbach) Sellin.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:30pm Tuesday, April 21st, 2015, at the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Herington, with Rev. Troy Slater officiating; burial will follow at the Sunset Hill Cemetery. A Prayer Service will be held Monday 7pm at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel; with a visitation following.
Mrs. Muehlenburg was a homemaker. She was a cook at the White City School, and she also worked for Moore’s Market, White City. She was a past member of the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Herington; and later the Calvary Lutheran Church, Council Grove. She was a Sunday School Teacher for over 50 years; and she also played the church organ at St. Paul’s of Shady Brook, Immanuel of Shady Brook, and St. John’ of White City. Her greatest love was caring for her husband, and her daughters.
She married Walter A. Muehlenburg at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shady Brook, on June 22, 1947; he preceded her in death on April 21, 2005. She is also preceded in death by a brother Jerry Sellin; two (2) sisters: Delores Grantham, & Frances McKinney; a son-in-law Laryl Dittman; brother & sister-in-law Earl & Loretta Detmer, and a brother-in-law Harvey Nagel.
She is survived by two (2) daughters: Christine Mitchell of Salina, and Susan Dittman of White City; a sister Joyce Sellin of Council Grove; three (3) grandsons: Art Bird, Ken Bird, & Ron Dittman; and eight (8) great grandchildren (Amber, Spencer, Colton, Ashlyn, Cory, Sidney, Alison, Austin – all Bird’s)
