Norman Wooster, 85, lifelong resident of Herington, died Thursday, April 9th, 2015, at the Salina Hospital. He was born Sunday, April 14, 1929, at Herington, the son of Alexsander and Martha (Hill) Wooster.
Military Committal Service will be held at 11:00am, Monday, April 13th, 2015, at the Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington, with the Fort Riley Honor Detail, Pastor Bill Peterson officiating.
Mr. Wooster retired from the Rock Island Railroad, as a Wrecker Engineer. He served with 11th Airborne Division during World War II. He was a member of the Carey R McClaren, American Legion Post #12, and the Dix-Day, American Legion Post #1281, both of Herington. He and his wife Birdie owned and operated numerous business in Herington, in previous years.
Married Birdie Ann Locke, at the Herington Episcopal Church, on August 21, 1948; she survives of the home. He is survived by a daughter Rhonda Anderson (husband-Mike) of Cape Canaveral, FL; son Monty Wooster (wife-Karen) of Lincoln, NE; and a sister Betty Patterson of Fresno, CA. Also survived by three (3) grandchildren: Tara Owens (husband-Gary), Kyle Wooster (wife-Candace), and Jayson Kliger; and six (6) great grandchildren (Dominic, Austin, Jordan, Rylie, Julianna, Gwyneth).
Norman was one of twelve children. He is preceded by two (2) brothers: Wyman Wooster, and Walter Wooster; eight (8) sisters: Esther Warncke, Bernice Molpus Alice Greenwood, Delores Rigsby, Shirley Hoover, Diane Lee, Arlen Brown, and Bonnie Hamilton; and his parents.
