Dorothy M. Thornhill, 87, former resident of Ramona, died Sunday, September 21st, 2014, at the Hillsboro Community Medical Center. She was born Thursday, July 14, 1927, in Herington, the daughter of David B. and Mary B. (Bauer) McRae.
Family will receive friends Thursday, September 25th, 2014, at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel, from 1pm until 2pm; committal service following at the Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington, with her grandson Robert Taylor officiating. Casket Bearers for the service will be Dalton Anderson, Taylor Mattson, Anthony Taylor, Jacob Taylor, Zach Taylor, James Thornhill,
Joshua Thornhill, Scott Thornhill, Travis Thornhill, and Jordan Wamser.
Mrs. Thornhill was a homemaker. She attended Herington High School with the class of 1945. She collected Stuffed Clowns from all over the world, over 300 different clowns.
Married Grover A. Thornhill on November 15, 1948 at Council Grove; he preceded in death on July 8, 1988. She is also preceded in death by her son Jerry Brunner (07/29/1999); four (4) brothers (Francis “Jack” McRae, Robert McRae, John McRae, Michael McRae); and two (2) sisters (Connie Rymer, & Mary Lou Siegrist)
She is survived by three (3) daughters: Sharon Middleton of Orlando, FL, Ruby Anderson of Lawrence, Alana Taylor (husband-Mike) of Halstead; two (2) sons: Robert Thornhill (companion-Judy Bickford) of Ramona, Gordon Thornhill (wife-Sandra) of Salina; sister Vernie Hawkinson (husband-Don) of Elkton, OR; and a sister-in-law Twilla (Kemph) McRae of Reedsport, OR; and a brother-in-law Don Rymer of Ingleside, TX. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and five (5) great-great-grandchildren.
