Delma M. O’Connor, 92, of Herington, died Easter Sunday, April 20th, 2014, at her home in Herington. She was born in Herington, Monday, July 25th, 1921, the daughter of Sherman M. and Fannie (Schump) Bisby.
A Christian Mass will be held at 10:30am Friday, May 2nd, 2014, at the St. John’s Catholic Church, Herington, with Rev. Mark Wesely officiating; inurnment will follow at the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Herington.
Delma worked at Herington Skelgas for 5 years, then for Holy Cross Assn, Notre Dame, Indiana, until she retired in 1987. Moved to Mesa, AZ, for 4 years; then to Council Grove, for 4 years; then to Manhattan, KS, until 2006; moved to Herington. She was a faithful member of St. John’s Catholic Church. She graduated from Herington High School with the class of 1939.
She married J.C. Bowlan, on April 6, 1942, and he preceded in death on August 6, 1966; and married Donald P. O’Connor on October 17, 1996, and he preceded in death on March 28, 2005. She is preceded in death by her son Stephen Bowlan on August 30, 1974, her twin brother Harry “Buck” Bisby on January 11, 2007, and her parents. She is also preceded in death by three (3) step-sons: Gerard “Gerry” O’Connor, Terrance “Terry” O’Connor, and Steven “Beaver” O’Connor.
She is survived by two (2) brothers: Richard Bisby (wife- Doris) of Clinton, MO, and Dennis Bisby (wife-Pam) of Newton; and step-sons: Donald D. “Donny” O’Connor of Denver, Michael “Mike” O’Connor of Chicago, Timothy “Tim” O’Connor of St. Louis, and James “J.J.” O’Connor of Smolan.
