Bessie M. Stover, 90, of Elkins, Arkansas, was a resident of Herington until 2005, died Monday, March 17, 2014, at the Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville. She was born Wednesday, August 29, 1923, in Claremore, Oklahoma, the daughter of Roy R. and Frances J. (Stiger) Rader.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 20, 2014, at the Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington, with Pastor Bill Peterson officiating. The family will meet with friends, prior to the service, from noon until 1pm at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel.
Mrs. Stover was a homemaker. She was a past member of the Herington Methodist Church. She loved the outdoors; she loved to hunt and fish, and gardening. She also enjoyed playing cards. Graduated from White City High School with the class of 1942.
She married W.R. “Smokey” Stover on May 25, 1943, in St. Louis; he survives of the home. She is also survived by two (2) sons: Stephen Stover (wife-Sharrol) of Elkins, AR, and Lynn Stover (wife-Janet) of Cassville, MO; a sister Hazel of Salina; and a granddaughter Sherri of Kansas City, MO.
She is preceded in death by three (3) brothers (John Rader, Merle Rader, & Leroy Rader), two (2) sisters (Mary Dunham & Thelma Burton), and her parents.
