Walter G. Clark, 86, of Herington, died Thursday, March 6th, 2014, at the Herington Municipal Hospital. He was born Monday, June 6th, 1927, at Larned, the son of Orville D. and Emma L. (Bridges) Clark.
Memorial Service will be held at 10:00am Tuesday, March 11th, 2014, at the First Christian Church, Herington; with Rev. Shawn Baird officiating. The family will receive friends from 7pm until 8pm Monday at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel.
Mr. Clark was an over the road truck driver for many years. He drove the Herington School Bus’ USD487 for over 15 years. He was an active member of the First Christian Church, Herington; serving as Elder for 15+years, Board Chairperson, and Property Chairperson. He also served on the Herington Hospital Board, and on the City of Herington’s Lake Advisory Board.
He married Lucile Jenette Hegi, at Wichita on September 21, 1952; she survives. He is also survived by two (2) daughters: Debra Stovall of Beverly, and Diana Daetwiler (husband-Greg) of Kansas City, KS; a son Duane Clark (wife-Edith) of Newton; five (5) grandchildren; and seven (7) great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by a son David Clark (06/21/1992); a grandson Dustin Stovall; a brother Joe Clark; and four (4) sisters: Geneva Oehlert, Vera Spangler, Fern Garrison, & Lois Gilmore.
